Quite unusual is this one. The scene is beautiful especially in those sepia tones. Without a doubt the railing shadow on snow is a creative and spontaneous capture... it adds a different dimension totally. The oil filter has created a super empasto effect which is very appealing.

Thank you very much Brenda! The light and colors you see here are exactly how I saw it, the only think I did was apply a slight oil paint filter here. The sky is full of snow clouds .

This is really neat! The effects you used gives it a unique look. I like the b&w look and the shadows do add to it.
I have tried using filters like this and have not been able to get the look I wanted. I guess it has to be the right picture.

Thank you so much Willie , the truck to using the pol paint filter is to back it off until you get the desired look .

I really like this photo, I do like how the porch lights shine on the snow. But what I really like is how you changed the trees,
I think it gives it a bit of a mysterious feel about it, very well done.

Is it safe to say that you have found your signature style, Pat? This is the second of this style I have seen of yours, and I think it is the better of the two.
Think me crazy if you wish, but I get winter warmth feeling looking at this. Takes me back to when I was small and all the winter snows were deep.
The back lighting emphasizes the shapes and lines of the tree branches.
The shadows of the post and stiles of the porch railing mark a grid iron in the snow - reminds me of the packed path that cut cross lots to the skating rink.

This is also a sharp photo showing such clear and well defined details in the trees, and both the exposure and white balance is spot on.
The cropping is fine, and with the big pine tree off to the left, it is a very good balance in the composition. I also like the oil painting filter you have added. A truly lovely and well taken photo Pat, and with an excellent DOF.

Pat the oil paining filter works very well on this painting. The trees take on a dramatic look and the casted shadows of the porch rail on the snow looks as if the light is coming from below. Very nice Picture. Ray
