A gorgeous perfect bloom. In black and white grey tonal, values cannot hide imperfectness. The placement is just right, it reminds me of a mane of a lion. A beautiful capture and well managed presentation

Hi Pat, I so would have loved to see this in color. Your dahlia looks beautiful in BW so I can just imagine what it would look like in color. Love the texture of the petals along with the focus and lighting. The only thing I'd mark you down on with this shot is not having it in color! LOL It;s a beautiful shot! :o) Nancy

Thank you so much My friend! I appreciate your thoughtful comments and review! I thought it was pretty in color too, desaturating, I feel emphasizes the shape and structure of the dahlia. Just something different lol

The shot is still beautiful in BW! I was just dreaming a bit! LOL :o)

Lovely shot here Pat!! I like the black and white in this image. The colour can distract from the delicate shape of the petals, you have highlighted that here nicely. Thanks for sharing

This picture is pin sharp and I must admit that I like your decision to do it in black and white as it makes a 'standard' flower shot much more interesting. Your use of a black background really adds to the picture too - well done.

Absolutely striking photograph so well presented in only black and white.
Pat, the intricate details of the petals on this dahlia are so showing exquisitely.

Pat,
A beautiful black & white picture of your Pink Dahlia glowing out from the black background. Each petal seen in sharp detail. Beautiful & artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & razor sharp focus.

I didn't think a flower could be pretty in black and but you did a great job with this one. You can see all the intricate parts of the petals and the tips of the petals where they are darker adds to it, and the dark background really helps I think, well done.

What can I say, I love your work. Would have loved to see this in color but the black and white works too. The way the shadows are consistent leads me to believe this was shot on an overcast day. Great image!

Thank you so much ! The dahlia is petty I it?s colors but I thought the desaturation worked to emphasize the shape and structure of this flower!

Soft highlights & faint shadows add a dramatic touch to an already dramatic and evocative take.
Your camera settings are pin sharp and have produced a high resolution image of high contrast with excellent eye appeal.
A fine perspective & long depth of field brings out the fine details & smooth velvety textures not only of the mature petals but the central structures as well.
Cropping and compact framing under fine ambient light shows a visually appealing sharply focused floral in classic B&W ... Bob

Don,t normanally get many b/w flower photos on here or anywhere come to think of it,but i like this because of that and a good clear shot that also fills the frame well...Brian
