What's in the colour? A beauty would look great in colour or no colour ( with due apologies to the Bard). Lovely post of the flower.Light and sharpness are very effective in creating a lovely capture. Thanks for sharing!

I do love dahlia blooms which are so vibrant and varied in shape. Very different in black and white but works well. Focus is sharp and the clarity of the petals is good

Certainly, black and white photography is often regarded as a classic and sophisticated style, and this Dahlia flower photograph is a testament to that. The use of desaturation to transform the image from a pastel-colored blossom to a high-contrast masterpiece demonstrates the photographer's understanding of the art of photography. The delicate petals and their intricate shapes are highlighted beautifully by the play of light and shadow, adding depth and dimension to the image. The high level of detail captured in the photo showcases the photographer's technical skills.
In conclusion, this black and white Dahlia flower is a beautiful and well-executed example of fine art photography. The use of desaturation to create a high-contrast image has resulted in a timeless and elegant representation of this stunning bloom.

The two main qualities we look for in a flower, to enable us to appreciate its beauty, are the smell and the colours, but here we have neither - and yet you still managed to create a stunning shot!!! Pat you are an excellent photographer, you have a real gift!

Thanks so much Charlotte! I thought that desaturating the colors emphasized the shape and structure of the Dahlia. It was pretty in color too!

This is beautiful. So much detail and beauty. Great designs and intricate petals weaving through and around each other. I am enjoying the black and white presentation very much. It allows the focus to really stand out on the textures and amazing natural beauty of the Dahlia. Wonderfully captured!

I just love your black and white dahlia presentation! B and W brings such beautiful attention to the fine details as well as excellence to lighting and shade. Your photo is so well done Pat! Finely focused and framed into the square format brings pleasing depth and making it look almost 3D. Beautiful!!!

Very nice! When I first started photography around 13 or so my dad got me interested. He had his darkroom and I would take shots like this and develop the film then would print them. B&W was all I knew then. It is surprising the difference it makes to switch from color to make a dramatic photo like this. Well done!

Ohno!! You drained the color!!! Lol. The clarity is great. The angle of the shot of this flower in black and white is great. The capture of the light is great. The presentation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall.
