This is a wonderful shot of the misty morning. You have timed it well. The light and shadows, and composition have worked out well. Good luck in the contest!

I think you have achieved your goal. The mist works well in this composition as does the contrast of the shadowed animals to the tree in the distance. It is a very compelling scene that you have captured very well.

Well done! I like your presentation very much! The monochrome toning is pleasing. The well focused foreground stands out so nicely against the soft misty tree creating a wonderful contrast. The dramatic sky and cattle in silhouette create a powerful impact while showing good dof. Thoughtful and indeed creatively presented. Best wishes for the contest!!

This is awesome! I can see the mist rising up from the ground, it really shows well in front of the tree.
I like the placement of the tree off to the right and lo and behold there are two cows, they bring life as well as adding another element of interest. I think it's pretty cool that they are also positioned over on the right, I can see that one is farther back .I love the tree and I am always looking for just one tree out in a field such as this .
Well photographed with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is well managed , I like the soft tones that the mist creates.
Well composed and presented!
Best wishes to you in this contest!

The simplicity of the composition, with a limited number of elements and negative space, can create a powerful visual impact and emphasize the mood and atmosphere of the scene.
The use of mist and fog in the background adds a sense of depth and texture to the image, while also creating a sense of mystery and intrigue. The silhouettes of the tree and cows can further enhance the minimalist aesthetic of the photo, while also providing a point of interest for the viewer to focus on.
It is a well-executed photo that captures the beauty and mood of a misty morning in the countryside. The minimalist style of the photo allows the viewer to focus on the key elements of the scene, while also providing a sense of tranquility and peacefulness. I find it really cool and an interesting work of art.

a very beautiful capture on a very misty morning;
in contrast to what people usually think it was obviously better, as you did, to capture the cows against the tree in the background;

Yes mist/fog can be rewarding in regards to photos,was out recently by a river and got some,its worth taking loads of different angles/positions and although i like this think the position of cows might have been slightly better[and am not sure about this] if you had the cows on the oppisite side of the tree rather than in front of it,also did you take any vertical ones,but its good you at least went out in it...Brian

    Thanks Brian I appreciate your suggestions, but if the cows had been on the opposite side of the tree we wouldn?t have seen them as it?s trunk is below the horizon! Lol lol lol
    No, only in landscape, as the sky above the hill was very bland and white. But you?re right I should have zoomed in a bit more and tried it in portrait too - next time I will! Thanks for your observations and suggestions, I really appreciate them.

    your welcome sometimes we review but don,t know the circumstances behind a photo,thats why i think artists have an advantage because they can put in what they like[mind you i can,t paint for toffee] lol

    Yeah I totally agree! Mind you I did move the cows and tree over to the right as in the original they were bang slap in the middle, which I knew would bring in suggestions on the rule of thirds!! Lol

Beautiful and so nice to view this landscape photograph on the misty morning.
The black and white presentation for the contest is a great choice.

A beautiful countryside scene with a cow grazing and her calf ahead of her on the other side of what resembles an Oak tree with the morning mist rising off the pasture and what reminds me of a big East Anglian sky making a perfect background. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

    Thank you so much Susan. But you?ve confirmed to me that I still haven?t mastered the art of misty photos, as that?s part of the Cheviots in the background and only the very top bit is sky! LOL

This is a very creative work in creative exploration. The whole scene is fine. The greens in the grasses are shown well. The silhouetted smaller and larger cows are well seen also. There is some mist very clearly seen; best wishes.
