I think you did a really good job of converting this portrait to black and white. You have accented the focal point well and framed the scene perfectly. It is an interesting and compelling composition that leaves me wondering if he caught a fish or not. Best of luck in the contest. Great entry.

The fact that the photo was taken on a misty and foggy morning adds an element of mood and atmosphere to the image, which can help to draw the viewer into the scene and create a sense of immersion.
The fact that there is chaos in the photo due to the elements, fish boats, and the fisherman's gear, yet the overall feeling of the image is peaceful, is a testament to the skill of the photographer. It is often difficult to capture a sense of calm in a chaotic environment, but the artist has managed to achieve this through their composition and choice of subject matter. The black and white treatment of the photo adds a classic and timeless feel to the image, which further enhances its appeal as a work of photojournalism.

P.S This is supposed to be a anonymous contest, but with all those settings you always add , people know exactly who you are .. Just saying ...

My brother loves to go fishing and when he does I know he is in a world of his own! Nothing matters but the fish! LOL Looks like this guy is totally into what he is doing! I think the BW image makes you feel that even more so! Nice focus and lighting! Good Luck in the Contest! :o) Helvi

You succeeded in editing well in black and white, while being creative. Witty title and best wishes in the contest. Not the most attractive setting all way around but you seemingly enhanced it with your work.

Thank you for displaying your settings, so I can learn from them. Also I am a sucker for B&W. Great detail, contrast and the ability to shoot his emotion.

What an incredible amount of equipment he's lugged along with him!
This is a great atmospheric shot of a misty damp morning. Beautifully in focus with a good dof showing us the setting so clearly. Nice tonal range in your greys and very good composition with the quayside/river's edge on the diagonal. Great entry for the contest, very good luck in it.

Great entry for the contest. I like what you've done here showing the lone fisherman by the river. I guess that's what appeals to many fishermen - to escape into a world of their own! The early morning mist contributes to the story. Very good camera techniques. Best of luck in the contest. Suzanne

Fishermen are usually in deep thought in order to outwit the fish they are trying to catch. That is one of the joys of fishing. This is a great picture capturing all the necessities in hooking the fish. The best of luck in the up coming contest. Ray
