OMG it's like Owl channeling Eeyore, absolutely adorable! This little guy reminds me of the same style EH Shepard used for his Winnie the Pooh illustrations. With lots of delicate lines and shading, the most adorable creatures were brought to life. Love this simple but lovely drawing.

good try on your first attempt at sketching the baby owl. My suggestion would be to focus on your blending technique to help lift the soft down feathers of the bird. God Bless

I had never drawn an owl, but I did this one several months back. It was a quick sketch with pencil. Most reviewers really liked it. I hope you will view my portfolio of some of the realism I have done, and other styles. I know you do fine realism too. I am disappointed with the low 4, but thanks for reviewing artist friend. So much has gone wrong today; God bless you too.

lol,, Owls always look sad, and yet we are drawn to that big owl eyes, love the fluffiness you gave this baby, didnt know they stayed only 4 weeks with the parents, but then that is a good time of growing up for these illusive birds

Glena,
A beautiful drawing of an Owl fledgling it's wild eye watching you closely & it waits for it's Parent to return with something to eat. Created by your artist's eye for composition very skilful draftsmanship & shading in bringing this Owl fledgling to life on your canvas.

Thank you, artist friend Susan for reviewing and your fine comments. You described it so creatively, the way I should have attempted to do.

I used to do pencil a long time ago and know how difficult it is to get the proportions right. Like the shadings in this and the presentation. My only suggestion would be, is to add a bit of shading where his head appears to be turned. Otherwise it appears as if his head is just crooked. Cute drawing.

Thank you, artist friend Lynnmarie2, for your review. This is not a polished drawing as mine usually are. This was my first owl; I hadn't reviewed images of them before. much as I usually do. The reference was similar, minus shading and I flipped it; somehow, I made it sad. And, usually I flip the image before I draw it, or I draw it backward if I have time. Please see my drawings of the "Seated Head," Michael Angelo's "David" with the detail, my granddaughter in pink in my portfolio and others. I quickly drew this owl when I decided to enter the contest, all in a matter of an hour or two, nearing the end. But thanks, also for not deducting a .5.

What a cute little owl, it does indeed look sad and somewhat lonely, hopefully its parents return soon. Very nicely drawn, like the catchlight in those dark eyes, the detailing in the downy coat. The yellow bill is a nice touch, as is the shadow it is casting, gives the image depth. The artists notes add additional interest. Best wishes to you in this contest!

Such wonderful details and well portrayed expression of this baby owl who is sad at being alone. Love the shadows he casts and the natural tilt of his head. Great work my friend, thanks for sharing!

The Sad Baby Owl drawing is a touching and poignant piece of traditional art. The artist has utilized graphite pencil to create a realistic and detailed image of a baby owl. The mostly graphite colored down of the owl is beautifully captured, and the addition of a touch of yellow to the beak adds a nice touch of color to the image. The artist's skill with the pencil is evident in the intricate details of the owl's feathers, beak, and eyes. The owl's expression appears sad and forlorn, which evokes empathy and sympathy from the viewer. The artist has also shared interesting information about baby owls, which adds depth and context to the image.

This is very nicely created. Great textures. His soft shy expression has been captured very well. I like the little touch of yellow on his break. A nice educational write up to go along with your lovely art work. A nice contest contender. Best of luck!
