Jodi, I am hoping for a bloom just like this, as I own a red Anthurium and I am nurturing it back into the flowering stage. This is a beautiful shot, the color is amazing. Now I know what to expect. The best of my luck, for you in the flower contest. Ray

    Thank you Ray and good luck with your anthurium! I have read that the higher humidity levels like a bathroom are good for them. Also they will bloom a lot for several months and then go into a semi dormant stage which might make it look like it is dying. Appreciate your comments! :-)

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of that beautiful bloom. Colours, textures and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Nicely done!

a very good close up Jodi of this pink anthurium "flower" with its unusual color;
very good sharp details; unfortunately the shape of the flower isn't perfect;

    Thank you so much for your comments. Nature isn?t perfect and so the shape of the flower is also not perfect.

This is a great photo Jodi! I don't know this flower at all (my houseplants are all cacti!), it's fascinating and so pretty.
You've taken a great photo of it too, it's beautifully sharp with amazing detail in the veins and all those bobbles on the centre bit (stamen?). The colours are lovely, so many tones of pink, and the black background makes the image really pop!
Very best wishes for the contest!
Charlotte

    Thank you Charlotte, I appreciate your comments on this very much! Yes, the middle part is called the stamen and this one is unusual because it is so large and well developed - its details were fascinating.

This is a beautiful plant. The color is stunning as is the middle-beaded part. The whites are just enough to give contrast. The stem is rather nice and the dark background makes the waxy leaves pop. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.

    You too. This is the most unique flower, to me anyway, and very beautiful. Outstanding color and photography, creative artist and friend.

This is so interesting to see, I had to look at it for a bit to realize it was an anthurium because of the pink color, I had a red one and until this image, I had no idea that there was a pink one!
I see how it gets the name " Flamingo flower" it's a lovely shade of pink!
You have photographed it well Jodi, with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is well managed, the pink with white detailing appears natural. The flower is standing out from the black background profoundly.
Well composed and presented! Thank you so much for sharing this one!

Hi Jodi, I didn't realize they called these Flamingo flowers! I also didn't realize this was a long blooming houseplant. I don't think I've ever seen a pink one either but, it definitely fits the title. I like your shot on the black background. The pink really stands out. Good lighting and almost perfect focus. Nicely Done My Friend! Good Luck in the contest! :o) Nancy
