a great entry into the "Flowing Water Contest" ans an obvious winner of this contest; much better than the other entries, including mine!.....

Thank you so much Fred, you?ve made my day!
But unfortunately I don?t think it has a chance at all as many of the previous reviewers couldn?t see it was water at all and asked why I?d entered it for this contest!
So a double thank you - the 2nd for recognising it for what it is.

unbelievable! people need to wear glasses! it is obvious that there is water up to the bottom!

Well I thought so too! Maybe because of the colour - perhaps only those who?ve been to Africa understand the colour of the soil and many of the rivers??

A beautiful & disturbing picture of this raging torrent of the river carrying the top soil & it's fertility out to the coast & beyond I suspect some of the trees & bushes along the river banks are also carried out to sea. Beautiful & disturbing composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Thank you so much Susan. Yes everything that gets in its path gets swept out with it, and one has to shout above the noise it made!

Yeah, when I first saw this post I thought the foreground was anything but a river. Thanks for your interesting notes.

Your camera settings are well established and have produced a high resolution image of good contrast, color and tonal range.

The color range and lighting of the take are well balanced and contribute nicely to the overall eye appeal of your composition - A little HDR is a good thing.

The piece is exciting, dramatic and has super story telling ability... Bob

Thank you so much Bob. I suppose it?s because of the colour that people don?t realise it?s a river - I risked life and limb perched on a rock to get that shot! Lol

I enjoyed your narrative but am saddened by its effects on the poor farmers. The foliage is nice as is the rising torrent of grays and off-whites or the raging waters. The waste left by the rains in the forefront takes away from the beauty of the scene but you photographed the whole really well.

Thanks for the review, but that isn?t waste in the foreground, it IS the river!

Welcome. I thought so. IS it muddy water then, which in a sense is waste in the muddiness. It is still a lovely scene and you photographed it all well.

It was full of all the topsoil it had gathered on its way, so yes muddy but very fast moving, absolutely raging, and so loud!

Great capture!! Hope everything was safe for all those near the banks. The colors and focus are excellent. The turbulence of the scene simply pops off the screen. Thanks for sharing.

i agree. i feel for the farmers. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this flooded terrain is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

Thank you so much! It seems that you?re one of the few who can actually see the foreground IS the river! So frustrating!

This is a fine piece of Nature Photography. This clearly shows how we can find beauty even in the fury of nature. The entire composition, colours, light make this first rate. Well Done!

Thank you so much for your review, and for recognising it as the river - two out of four reviews asked why I?d entered it in the contest when there was no water in it!! So your review is even more welcome and appreciated than usual! Lol

Yeah! It's like that in southern Asia ( including the Phillipine Islands ) too!
( The red coloration of the soil I mean! : ) )
That's a great looking picture in my opinion,my friend!
It's genuinely interesting and it's very Well-Presented!
'Good Show'!

Thank you so much Sean, not only for your great review and rating, but also restoring my confidence in the photo - the previous two reviews couldn?t see it was the river and asked why I?d entered it in the contest when it only showed mist!
