This is an amazing shot. It looks like a perfect fall day in a small New England town.
Reminds me of my childhood and hits me in the feels in a great way.
The reflection is so perfect, it must have been a very windless day.
I would love to attempt to paint this.
Thank you so much for sharing.

For us landscape shooters it don't get better than this. If you do decide to paint this scene I would be honored to send you a JPG.

Thank you so very much for your kind words and great rating. I am glad you liked the post ... Bob

For me, much of my art is fond memories of beautiful places, but it surely helps to have a visual reference to an idea.
I am not sure what you would need from me to send a jpg but it would be an honor to me to attempt this for sure.

Thank you so much Cindy. I was living in Tenn. and wanted out. So I had a "Head Hunter". When I met with him right off the bat he says, "You New England guys, we find you a great job on the west coast or South East and you last maybe 3 years and your ready to go back to NE."

By the way, don't hold your breath for any post from the basin. The trek turned out to be a bust. But fret not, for early spring is a good time for another trip.

Glad you liked the post... Bob

A nice use of autumn colors in this and with good use of reflections as well, think if you had a small boat or something in the water would have created more interest but sometimes you have to make something out of whats there, nice shot and good you like me show settings [just adds that extra touch]...Brian

The description provides a great amount of detail about the location, the lighting, and the photographer's approach to capturing the shot. The use of a circular polarizer to control the glare on the leaves and not darken the sky is a thoughtful technique. The minor adjustments made in post-processing to enhance the cattails on the right without blowing out the leaf colors, and the use of contrast, exposure, clarity, and cropping, all show a thoughtful and deliberate approach to creating the final image. The photo captures the calmness of the water and the warmth of the golden hour side light, making it a serene and inviting scene. Great work, great, great nature photo !

A wonderfully well done shot of this peaceful and idyllic scene Bob! The clarity is crystal and the mirror like surface of the lake supplies not only the perfect review in reverse but also creates exquisite depth. I like the shaded sides as they force our eyes down the corridor of outstanding colors, shapes and warm ambiance. Your skills are really outstanding here!

There is something so special about autumn reflections!
It's the warm orange and gold tones set against the blue sky and reflecting on the water that make such a winning combination!
This is a gorgeous scene Bob and you have photographed it so very well with spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear, exposure is correct, all colors and tones appear true and natural. Yes, I see the cattails over on the right, I love the way this combines nature with man made the structures bring the human touch in, we can easily imagine being across the water in one of the buildings. I like also the clouds moving across from the right over the hilltop and of course its reflection!
This is beautiful work ! Well presented!

Thank you so very much for your kind words and great rating Pat. I am glad you liked the post.

This one didn't come easy. I either blew out the leaves or buried the cat tails in the dark and the sky color was lost. Sensing my mounting frustration one of the senior students from the Photography Club chimed in, "Ya otta try a filta.". Out of the mouths of babes... Bob

Bob,
A very beautiful peaceful Autumnal lake side scene with the Bulrushes/Cattails, the colourful trees, the houses, the mountain behind them & the sky above them reflected on the mirror like surface of the lake in the foreground. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Bob this is an incredibly difficult photo that you've made look so easy!
The bright sunshine on the autumn leaves brings out their beautiful colours and you've handled those heavily shaded areas very well indeed - those cattails are so clear!
The still water has given a perfect reflection and the blue sky repeated below has brought the whole image together. A very beautiful photo indeed.

Thanks for the great review and rating Charlotte. I am delighted that you liked the shot. I almost gave up on this one. I was so frustrated, I either blew out the leaves or buried the Cattails in the dark and loose the sky color either way. Then one of my senior students said, "Ya otta try a filta... ".

Sometimes it pays to pay attention to your own lectures!

    Thanks again... Bob

    You?re more than welcome Bob!
You?re a lecturer? That?s not in your profile! Is it on the subject of general photography or radiology?
reply by the author on 22-Mar-2023
A lecturer? Yes on both counts Charlotte. I taught/lectured Radiologic Technology science to budding X-Ray Techs. I taught/lectured Physical Therapy students normal, variant and traumatic variant anatomy at the University of Conn.

In photography I helped the local Middle and High Schools Photography Club. I taught the basics including wet processing. With another adult we would take those that wanted to go on what became known as "Ol Man Pellets Photo Safaris". A day trip usually a Sat. After the shoot we would critique the various takes (including mine) and vote on a "Club Keeper". At the first of the next month we would vote on the "School Keeper". The "School Keeper" was framed and hung on display with the others. It was a lot fun and I learned a lot... Bob

P.S. - This shot didn't become a keeper. There were 2 other shots that were better.

That?s quite an impressive CV you have there Bob! Now retired?
By wet processing do you mean like in a darkroom? I?ll bet the students really enjoyed their photo safaris, I can imagine you being an excellent teacher, just by your well written reviews on here!
I used to belong to a camera club in the days of roll film and another member taught me all the dark room processing, I loved it and set up my own darkroom at home - I?ve still got a lot of the photos from that time, but unfortunately they?re not easy to transform into digital - or at least I?ve not been very successful at it! Lol Any tips?
I remember when X-rays were hand processed, and we got the results after a short spell in the waiting room - now, with all the high tech processing (which surely should be quicker) we have to wait days if not weeks! So much for technological advances! Lol
