The Viceroy butterfly, state butterfly of Kentucky.

Excellent overall detail throughout of this specimen. Crenulations in the wing fabric are sharp and well focused.

The color range and lighting of the take is superb. The lighting in even and well balanced. This fine degree of lighting contributes nicely to the overall eye appeal of your composition. Controlled illumination with no blown out spots.

Soft highlights & faint shadows add a dramatic touch.

An excellent example of insect photography... Bob

Hi LeeAnn, Love the way you captured the texture of the wings! I like both the Monarch and the Viceroy butterflies. I'm always
aflutter trying to figure out which one I'm looking at! LOL Love the pov and the focus, The lighting is just a tad dark, but I love the way you can see the texture of the wings. Very nice presentation and a joy to view! Good Luck in the Contest! :o) Nancy

You have caught this butterfly with exceptional sharpness and detail Lee-Anne! Not an easy task at all! The colours are beautifully natural looking, the spot of sunshine on the lower body and leaf really makes it pop, and your dof is absolutely spot on. Well done and very best wishes for the contest.

That viceroy butterfly is one, if not the most, beautiful bug I have seen. The background is rather nice too. Best wishes in the contest. The colors and shapes in the butterfly are beautiful.
