Still life of African objects

It is not he provenance of the items that matters but more the love and meaning you give them that has meaning and will endure.

The well arranged and presented items of the center are well chosen and attractive but I find my eye continually drawn to the faces of the children and how you arranged them. They are the true treasure of Africa for in them lies hope.

This is an excellent composition and should do well in the contest... Bob

What a nice entry in the contest. The way you tell a story with an image is impressive. It seems really busy at first but it ties all together in a cohesive way. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think it can be accepted as "Still Life" in a contest with so many children around the center which, by the way, is not only Africa!

    It is a still life photograph - the rest is mere framing! And I don?t think you?ll find children dressed and looking like this anywhere but Africa!

    as you indicated: some are from Samoa and Trobriand (?) island;

    Not the children, there are all African!

Thank you for your tribute to the African nation and Rwanda. The designs on the sides, top, and bottom are skilled; the children are precious. Those in the center are fine too. I would like to see the darker objects, especially the ones on the left and bottom by contrast; however, I won't deduct, 4. Thanks for sharing such a true meaning.

    Thank you. Yes I made the mistake of mixing the pale coloured mask and ivories with darkly patinated carvings - a nightmare for exposure! I had to individually lighten the dark objects and darken the light ones - it was a good learning curve!

Regardless of any minor
( and more-or-less unnoticeable ) inaccuracies I think this is a fine looking photographic presentation!
It's interesting,it's pleasingly Out of the Ordinary and I'm enjoying it very much!

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of many different aspects of Africa. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

Well this one is unusual for sure and the objects that are in this qualify for still life as such,i can see the people in the background sort of relate to the artefacts if loosely but reading your notes it makes more sense,good use of lateral thinking [which is good] will be interesting to see how people view this one...Brian

    Thanks Brian. Well I had to do something creative with it as I?m just not one of those people who can put a group of things together and make them look good! I had fun experimenting anyway.

Art is first created from within. We draw inspiration from our thoughts, and experiences from the five senses.Your post has this sensory experience as the viewer gazes upon your creation developing their own thoughts and feelings. Intersting entry. Good luck!

    Thank you so much Sesha, it?ll be interesting to see what others might say - it?s not the bog standard still life I know, but I?m rubbish at those anyway, so I thought why not give it a go!
