Nice shot of this little guy Bob! Love the beam he's on, I take it this is the feeder post. Nice focus and lighting show this guy of well. I like how you framed the shot too. Love how they balance themselves on their tales like this. Thanks for sharing! :o) Nancy

Nice shot of the Harry. Mine along with the Downy and Red-bellied are eating faster than I can fill their feeder. The Harry also has a much longer beak. Another easy thing to spot.

Thanks Cindy I learned something new today. Living by the lake has proven to be a bird haven (N Flickers, Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers, Red Bellied, Pileated and I even saw a Black Back).

Anyway, thank you for the review of this capture and I appreciate the rating ... Bob

We have both the Downey and the Hairy woodpeckers here, I love the hairy because of its size! This one is beautiful! I love the patch of red on its crown.
Nice side profile view. Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural.
Nice detail in its face, I especially appreciate that clear eye!
The bird is standing out beautifully from the soft background and the light colored wooden post.what a fantastic idea to provide food for them. I'll get my husband to drill out holes in a post and do the same.
Well composed and presented!

Pat be careful with what you put in those holes, especially fats animal or otherwise will draw predators.

Thank you so much for a wonderful review and excellent rating ... Bob

A good looking nature image posted here, together with interesting notes. Your classical and fine composition gives us an enjoyable view of that lovely bird and its location. Textures, colours and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Nicely done!
