Hi, I actually grew poppies at one time yet I don't think I ever saw a blossom when it was about to POP free from the bud casing! I think this is a very interesting shot that definitely shows texture. Smooth ruffled petals and a bristly casing. The lighting shows the bristles off well! A great entry for the contest! I thought it was fascinating how the bud opened from the bottom leaving a cap that must then fall to the ground, whereas most flower buds open from the top! That was why I took this photo - but it?s come in very useful for this contest! Lol

I like this as its sort of an obscure image with good dof and texture certainly comes to the fore in this i would however crop out those two other flowers and although they are out of focus your eye tends to go to them...Brian

Very well shown various textures . I might remove the two red spots, I know they are another poppy but they do pull my eye off of your subject a bit.
Otherwise I like the placement of this popping bud, they're on left.. I like to turn the camera sometimes so get a vertical shot of flowers and stem.
