Ray,
a beautiful picture of the building up ready to crash on to the beach in the foreground. It the sky above I see the sun glowing in red's & golds through the clouds above the sea, the colours reflected on the wet sands in the foreground. Created in your artist's eye for composition, very skilful brushwork, beautiful choice, blending & application of your colours in bringing this scene to life.

Cool!
Are you familiar with the line about "a blood dimmed tide" from the poem 'The Wasteland' ( by T.S.Eliot ) ?
This excellent painting brings it to mind!
'Good Show',my friend!

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of a tidal wave washing in somewhere. Colours, textures and tones are good. Nicely painted!

Yes it is, and I'm standing on the shore just waiting for it to spill over my feet! Mmmm
There's just one criticism I'd make (sorry!) and that's the direction of the brushstrokes on the rearing wave - vertical strokes (with a slight curve within) I feel would give it more depth and body and create a better feeling of the force of the wave. The rest is simply lovely and I'm thoroughly enjoying wetting my feet on the shoreline.

Charlotte, thank you so much for astute observation and wonderful suggestion. My intention for this painting was to present a wave head on, large enough to take out the horizon, being held up by strong off shore breeze. l understand what you mean about the curvature of the face. Looking down the beach it would be so evident. A slight turn down shore would probably better and show the curvature better. Thank you again Charlotte for sharing your thoughts. Ray

You're very welcome Ray - I hope I don't offend by speaking my mind, I'm a bit prone to doing that!
