This photo is amazing. Water looks fresh so she must be gold minding. I guess this looks like something that she come out in a magazine. Great job. Thanks for sharing. Anne has always God bless.

Oh she was definitely panning for gold, Madagascar is very rich in precious metals and stones, but because it is so corrupt there, the ordinary people are extremely poor - I read recently that it?s the poorest country in the world that isn?t at war! But that is solely due to the corruption. It?s so sad.
Thank you so much for your review.

I love the way you can find people doing the mundane and feature them in such a complementary way through your photography. You have a great understanding of humanity and you surpass the class distinction in a humble way and everyone is important. Charlotte you have a big heart and your work shows that without a doubt. Charlotte,
A beautiful & very interesting picture of the young woman panning for gold in a river in Madagascar. Just praying for that golden glint in her Pan. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.

That's quite a story you told with this image. You don't often see people panning for gold that that all by itself makes this a n interesting image. Like you, I hope she she finds some. Both lighting and focus are pretty good. Love the fact you can really see her working the pan for a bit of gold. Very interesting ! Thanks for sharing! A great entry for the contest! :o) Helvi

An interesting, yet sad story to tell. You capture this woman worker well as she pans for gold. Great focus and clarity and good lighting. All the best in the contest!

Thank you so much for your great review. Yes most of their stories are sad, but they do have something we've lost, community is very strong and very loyal, they all help each other.

Great capture. The story tells itself. You lighting and crop make this shot stand out and gives a great POV. The movement of the water gives action, and I can hear her swirling the sand and water around the pan. Well done.

Awesome entry for this contest , this is also a unique and interesting image . She is bent over with her gold pan , hoping to get some gold from the river.
You have photographed it well with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear true and natural.
This is something that people do here .
Well composed and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

Thank you very much Pat. Oh so they do it in Alaska too? I?d never seen it before (except in the old western films! Lol) so was fascinated, it looks such hard work!
reply by alaskapat on 10-May-2023
Oh yes! We have gold mines here in Alaska !

    I didn't know that!
Brrr I think I'd rather pan in the heat of Madagascar than in the snow of Alaska! Lol
