An excellent shot of this lovely bird, and perfect for the contest!
Beautifully sharp overall, but eye is always the most important part and you've got it spot on - not an easy task with black on black!
The green background really makes him pop and with no distractions to draw the eye away from the subject.

It is good for the color (or colorful) contest. The photography is good, would make a nice painting as well. The reds and whites on the bird's chest and underbelly are lovely, also that red spot on the beak/bill. Your green background adds to the color. Best wishes in the contest.

With this excellent profile there should be no doubt in anyone's mind how this bird got its name.
This take has amazing color, positioning, contrast and detail. But the eye and feather detail is to die for - Outstanding focus.
Willie you nailed the camera settings. They are well established and have produced a high resolution image of good contrast, color and tonal range.
