This is my favorite of images for this contest, The Eyes Have it. Portraying all three emotions was a great idea for this contest and you did a fabulous job on it! I think I like the top two the most but all are done well! You are talented!

First of all Lauren let me welcome you to FAR. May that all of your adventures are successful. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. I Will reply. Now onto the review. The eyes forms are excellent. The details is excellent. The shading is excellent. The blend of the colors is excellent. The depth is great. The creation itself is balanced and eye appealing. Now what brought the rating down is your presentation. When you capture your work make sure that you crop out any excess that is not the artwork. Also make sure you have good lighting to show the rich colors more to the view. This presentation can have an effect on the contest committee as well. You have the talent so on your next post do it like I suggested and you will surprised in the results of your reviews. Still ita great creation and good job overall

Congratulations on your first post, first milestone. Glad you are back to drawing. It takes a while to do colored pencils realistically. Your "Fear" on is really good, as is "Anger" one. The "Joy" is good but the eyes could use more detail, highlight less on one side, more on the other. Yet it is good work and with more work could come up to a 5, maybe a 6 for all three.

Well done on your first post! I can see that a lot of emotion went into creating these expressions. All the best for the competition. Julie Lau

The eyes are remarkable organs enabling us to perceive the world. They are also mirrors of the soul. You have shown the eyes conveying the expressions clearly. But you need to crop the image without the white frame and repost them for better appreciation.Good luck!

Hi Lauren, Welcome to FAR! Hope you enjoy yourself here. Love the different expressions these 3 images show. Looks like
your showing the look of surprise or fear in the top image, anger in the second and joy in the bottom image. I think you did a wonderful way of expressing those feelings The eyes have it in all of your images. For your first image here you did an awesome job!
I wish I had a six atar review left for you . You deserve it! :o) Helvi

Lauren congratulations on you first post and contest entry. Welcome to Fan art review FAR. I must say this is a fine pencil sketch, you have captured the emotions you were intending. I see you ran into difficulties in photographing the piece positioning the camera and the light source. I find that using an Iphone or similar camera works fine. Prop up your painting, using a small table tripod set up your camera so the lens of the camera is centered and perpendicular to the painting. Use two sources of light on either side of the painting. If you have stereo earphones, there sometimes is a switch on the line that you can use to snap the picture with or use a portable bluetooth device, it is like a remote. This way you don't even touch the camera when taking the shot. Another alternative is take the outside on a bright sunny day and set up in the full shade and the bright sky behind you will perfectly light up your art work with out shadows. Then you will have a well lit photo of your art work that you can crop using your phone or computer. I hope this helps you, You are very talented and have fun. The best of luck in the contest you entered. Ray
