You have created a beautiful work of of this gorgeous bird!

Replicating feathers of birds is a skill that I admire greatly.

Love the colors and composition.

Lovely image of the beautiful little parrot, Glena. I like the addition of the rainbow which provides added interest in the background. I like what you did to enhance the image. Lovely blending of colours and detail in the feathers. Beautiful composition. Best of luck in the contest. Suzanne

Thank you, artist Suzanne, for your review and encouraging words, for liking this work. I made the rainbow brighter but changed it, making more faint so as to appear in a distance. I am sorry to say that traditional art cannot always compete with digital art.

Yes, I know what you mean - unfortunately I don't do digital!

Hi I am new here and this is my first review! I think this drawing is very nice! I love the detail and colors in the wings and then the red color in the distant rainbow ties the picture together beautifully.

Welcome to Fanart Review. Thanks for reviewing but why the .5 deducted. I made the rainbow brighter but changed it, making more faint so as to appear in a distance.

Sorry Glena not to agree with all the previous comments: your pic isn't sharp enough whatever other people write;................................

Thanks anyway. I always go above and beyond in my reviews. I purposely made the rainbow fainter so as to be at a distance. I had it too sharp at first. I think the bird is about as sharp as one can draw. Perhaps I should make the trees toward front sharper, although focus on bird, or should I? Thanks for your response regarding this.

I could have made even this bird sharper but it would look more digital or machine done. I draw and paint straight out. I do know this, there is no way an artist's drawing or painting straight out can compete with the digital images or with a camera. Sure, I can draw some images exactly as another piece, but not as a whole; too, digital works can be changed, erased, a mistake erased and so forth whereas with a painting, that doesn't happen. With Artists Network and a Color institution I work with as able, nothing can be done on a computer except resizing; however, they prefer resizing on their proposed places, I suppose. Thanks friend again and for your input to help.

Thanks, Gina, for reviewing and liking my painting. I drew and painted with soft pastels and pastel pencils.

Fantastic piece of work. The vibrant colors are amazing and the details of the bird's feathers are outstanding. I thought this was a photo at first glance. Excellent!!!

Thank you so much, artist Lisa, for your review and great encouragement. I appreciate you and your work as well.

I like the work overall, the rainbow was a great touch and draws the total composition together. I understand the focal point being the bird and it shines at center stage.

I did not wish to focus on anything but the bird in detail and depth. The background I gave light touches. I hope you will reconsider this terrible rating. It is an insult, but you are being new to FAR (By the way, welcome, good to have you.), you will learn to review according to the style. Blessings. I have gotten many "6s" from outstanding artists for this piece. If I did it on the computer I could have saturated to my delight. I do art from scratch most of the time. This work took hours to complete; again, the focus is on the bird, the color red in it and a little in the rainbow. I had the rainbow more prominent, but it didn't look as realistic as I wished it not to be as focused. Please look at my portfolio and you can see my different styles.

I understand, I had no intention of insulting you and in my haste I picked 3 and a half stars inadvertently, I intended to pick 4 and a half stars.

That encourages me some with your correspondence. Thanks for changing to what you intended.

I really like the bird. Very detailed. Would like to see more detail in the background. But overall good job. I love painting birds. Enjoy!

I focused on the bird, the color red in it and the info. I hope you will reconsider the terrible rating. I do not receive such low ratings from seasoned reviewers. Most seasoned reviewers, that have "6"s left, have given a "6" for this work which took hours. Please notice how realistic the bird is and its perch. Welcome to FAR nevertheless. Please visit my portfolio and view my different styles. One portrait has a picture of how Sabrina looks with my portrait; some have mentioned my colored pencil drawing looks better than the portrait.

Thank you so much, artist friend, for the lovely review and the high rating. I am so honored. It has been a pleasure receiving your input and reviewing your fine work. If you would like, I'd like to stay in touch. I need to leave the site soon to get back to ministry more, my writing and other forms of art, as well as my health issues hinder. I hope you are doing fine with your health, coping and so forth. I do care and pray for you, your healing, dear friend. There are wonderful people on this site and I have shared my need to leave with a few others. My email is: jesseeki@swva.net. I have another one too that I use, a couple I don't. God bless you always and keep you safe. I have done drawings illustrating Daniel and Revelation sermons I have done, in the process of doing more.

Glenna thank you for your prayers where two or more are gathered together there he is also I love your work I myself just don?t have the time to post everyday like some others do I to have to step away god calls me to do art and music and astrophysics I?m getting ready to get a degree in astrophysics they said it would only take me two years. I can?t work in nursing anymore because of an autoimmune disease I?ll keep an eye out for you when you come back may god bless you in all that you do

Thanks so much for your fine response. I understand exactly where you are coming from. I face surgeries or problems with three areas in addition to SLE, possibly RA, but keep faith, the best I can. I am not able to post often either; am taking an art challenge with an outstanding artist and Christian, Art Instructor Matt Philleo. He is wonderful in numerous areas. But I have to try to get back to my son?s novel (I am coauthor) and my writing as/if I am able. I also wish to finally do portraits of some of my family, the first now being our grandson, who graduated from high school June 3, 2023. He plans to go to a Christian (at least a Conservative) college. I am learning from this art challenge?I never fully knew that it is best to hold the pencil high upon it while doing portraits and to seal the drawing with mat acrylic for painting so as to keep the drawing intact while painting, along with other minor details. May you be blessed to be healed and accomplish your pursuit of your degree. Just don?t overdo it, please. That?s how I became ill (with SLE, later diabetes that I?d fought since in my early twenties but didn?t accept fully until 1999) in the first place, by doing more than, or attempting to do more, than a teenager couldn?t have done, they told me at Duke University. Of two major emails, one of mine is: jesseeki@outlook.com. There is so much going on in the states that a vision I had at age 16 is really coming to pass. Truly everything points toward the return of Christ (catching away the redeemed), the rise of anti-Christ, the great tribulation and coalition of several nations to go after Israel also in the near future. So, just taking care of the real us: soul, spirit, mind, and body, the whole person that God cares for needs to be our first goal. So, please always put Christ first, seek His direction and He will take care of everything else. Many do give their lives for their testimony. A while back when President Trump was President, under his administration, the terrorists called, Isis, that murdered many, including Christians, even cutting children that wouldn?t recant their testimonies asunder, was decimated. Our son, Mark?s novel has a lot of this in in, Seven Years of Insanity?the Beginning. We are continuing, renaming it possibly it, and me doing a new cover. It is not as inspirational as mine, Beyond the Rough Side of the Mountain, I need to get back to, but his is a wake-up call. Again, be blessed and stay safe. I do hope to meet you some day. Take care, with love in Christ, Glena (or Glenna).

I will pray for you tonight glenna I just started going back to church we are in the last days I am praying for this nation and that god will deliver us from the evil men who are running it now the only reason god has not poured out his wrath on the us is because of the good Christian people praying for it I will pray for you when I get on my knees tonight before god where two or more are gathered together there he is also god bless you and take your time and I will pray for healing for you

Glena your artwork of the Crimson Rosella is excellent. As I see these birds regularly on my walks I can appreciate the likeness to the real bird. Not sure it needed the rainbow in background as it tends to draw the eye away from the bird but overall an enjoyable artwork to view.

Artist friend, thank you so much for your review and insight, confirming the likeness which greatly encourages me. I didn't have a rainbow at first but then created one for the color red added, later weakened its strength. Please tell me about where you live again; is it really beginning fall or even colder as we continue in spring, soon summer? I really appreciate it and love learning. Thanks so much.

We are just going into winter but our temp are mild compared to you we average 60F in day and 40F overnight. It is 10 am here and i am sitting under pergola at home drinking coffee in morning sunshine. The lorikeets, honwyeaters are in our trees enjoying insects and nectar from flowering gum. I live only 3km (2 miles) from our capital city Adelaide which is surrounded by parkland.
