And I like the smell of old fashioned roses - why is it that most of the roses they sell today don't have any smell? To me it's the best part of their beauty! Grr Ha ha rant over!
Good shot Fred, beautifully sharp with a nice depth of field and spot on exposure. Composition-wise I wonder if placed to one side with a wider crop might have improved it? But hey, that's just my opinion, I do rather like the rule of thirds :)

The rose is a beautiful color and the petals curling around in a spiral centre are perfectly formed.
Composition is okay and the darkened background complements the subject nicely.
Focus is good on centre of flower.

Your low lighting has given you a great opportunity to have the petals really pop. No light reflection to obscure the definition of the bloom.
The POV from the top is sophisticated and very artisitic.

Fred this is a beautiful shot.

The camera settings are pin sharp so much so that the entire rose is in fine focus.

I have always felt that a single rose should fill the frame - Like this one.
