I love how the railing gives interest to this piece drawing the viewer's eyes to taking note of the purple and soft whites and yellow reflections off the water. Very interesting subject matter. Good luck

Lisa this is a wonderful shot you framed it well with the railing and the lights playing off the water. You caught excitement with this evening shot. Very nicely presented. Ray

cool angle that you did in this capture. the clarity is good. the capture of the light is good. the angle of the shot of the harbor lights and water seen thru the rail is cool. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

I had a period of creating photos like this, always looking for gaps, holes and window frames to shoot through! It's a great fun and creative way to compose shots, but the problem is you always need a tripod and maximum depth of field to get both parts in focus - and at night, like this, an extremely slow shutter speed. The alternative is to take two photos where each individual part is nice and sharp and then (spend hours!) blending the two images together!
You've made an excellent attempt, and the composition is fantastic, especially with the rail running on a slight diagonal.
But my real question is, you have the water, but where's the nature part for the contest?

Thanks Charlotte, I appreciate review. The Nature of the water is that it exists in a cove where we admire and use it for our enjoyment 😁

This is skilled work and a beautiful scene with the lights and reflections. Best wishes in the contest. I really like that you captured such a fine setting through the openings in the bars. Creative!

Well first of all, I am jealous that you live around all that water and so many marinas. That's my wish. I love this beautiful capture with the bridge and the reflective lights on the water making an appearance through the railings. It's like the rails created a frame. Beautiful. I wish you the best of luck in this contest.!

Thanks Jewell, it is a wonderful area to live, however there is no bridge in the background. All the lights on the other side are from other marinas and boats.

I didn?t say there was a bridge in the background. I was referring to the bridge in the foreground.

Hi Jewell, sorry I misunderstood you bridge reference. I thought you were referring to the lights in the background. The structure in front is actually a handicapped ramp at the public pier. Thanks again for your kind words. Lisa

Interesting! I saw the ramp as a bridge railing and yes could see the lights are in the background. Smiles. Interesting what a person?s perspective might be!

Hi Lisa, I love the way you incorporated the railing into the shot! I like the way it frames the view. I think it makes the image even more interesting. The presentation is very nice as is the lighting and focus. I really enjoyed your nighttime view of the harbor. Good luck in the contest! :o) Helvi

Absolutely stunning and so creative photography of the night scenery and all the light reflections, the ones in the railing are spectacular and the ones in the background are shimmering with colors that gets viewers attention.
Awesome!
