What a great entry to the song title contest! You've captured a wonderful image of this baboon and I agree that it looks sad, understandably.
Your focus on the hand is a nice twist and emphasizes the free me message.
It is a clear image that captures the sensitive issue of animals in captivity.
Good luck in the contest!

Wow! This is profound !this image fits the song title perfectly ! I love the creative way you shot this to focus on his hand on the wire of the cage, that with the sadness in the eyes really tells the story well.
This in my opinion is an outstanding entry for this contest!
Very best wishes to you!

Thanks for sharing such an expressionist piece with the monkey longing to join the family. The slight bits of sky or bluish background is nice as are his ears and eyes, in particular.

Irregardless the size of the cage Brian, as long as you can't leave it is a prison.

This composition is so powerful and compelling. You captured the emotion and the angst of this creature expertly well.

The camera settings are spot on perfect for what your stated goal - Kudos.

Sometimes the truth can be hard to look at... Bob

This is a very poignant image. The level of sadness captured here, really tears at the heart strings. Technically speaking, this is well conveyed with the sharp focus on the hand and nose, while the rest of the face is slightly blurred. Wonderful submission for the song title!

A beautiful & amusing portrait of this Gelada baboon right hand on the bars of his cage the light sparkling in it's brown eyes. it's chin resting on the cage. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques& sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.

lol..are you talking about the punk rocker Wilcox from the 80's? i remembered some of her videos. she likes to make her voice deep when she gives those wild yells while she is singing. wow..a blast from the past when you mention it. i like the capture. you can see the despair in the animals eyes. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this critter in the cage is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

I am not aware of this song. But the pic of the baboon is sure to melt many hearts. A well taken close-up shot. The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good luck!

Oh Brian, you have captured the intense sadness of this baboon so well it makes me want to cry! I hate seeing any apes in zoos, however big their cage, they all have this look of despair.
Beautifully handled with the focusing, having the wire pin sharp and the one hand clinging to it accentuates his desire for freedom, while the softness of his face does indeed portray his sadness very well.
A gut wrenching shot, superbly taken. Hat off to you!
