Thanks Nancy, glad you liked it. Loons are so amazing. Here in MN they are fairly common, I have seen hundreds, but the next one will be just as amazing. Towards evening they call to each other, a piecing sound that is never to be forgotten!

Although this image has less detail and may not be aesthetically perfect like the AI submissions, I much prefer the personal touch of a stylus painting. It takes a lot of skill to achieve a lovely painting like this. The colors, composition and brush technique are very nicely executed. Awesome job!

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your comments. This piece took me over 4 hours to do brush stroke by brush stroke. I could have made a more dramatic AI painting in less than 5 minutes. I hope AI does not degrade traditional stroke by stroke painting.

This mother loon is so lovely with the spots in the wings on her back and the whites. The perch is nice as are the front grasses. The soft flow of the water, distant sky and foliage are nice. Best wishes in the contest.
