I'm going to judge this by the smaller photo. I think the small one is in perfect focus with great lighting. I love the angular shot! It makes a nice presentation. The larger view of the photo has the butterfly out of focus. It could be because the image is too big. I don't know, but I know that's happened to me. Love the smaller image though! Very attractive color contrast. Thanks for not removing the black at the tip of the leaf. As is it lends a sense of realism to the scene - wild nature.

The insect and the entire leaf are well positioned in your depth of field focusing box and is sharp focus.

The linear lines of the wings are clear and sharp. The eyes and mandibles are visible. The details of the thorax are clearly seen as is the abdomen. Wing fine detail is excellent.

The antennas are soft either from motion blur or they are outside of the focusing box. Since I can see partial shadows I am inclined to think its the latter - a very minor observation.

The color is magnificent. This is a fine post and a fine entrant for this contest, good luck... Bob

A beautiful picture of this Comma butterfly ~ Polygonia c-album wings outspread alighted on a green leaf that contrasts with it's golden brown beautifully patterned wings. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.

i love these vibrant colors of the leaf with it many shades of green with makes your butterfly pop. he is awesome with his colors. did you catch him trying to open his wings? i was trying to get a butterfly and i got too much motion
