It is a lovely pink Hibiscus you have pictured here, and with the pistils straight up like this, you should have called it an optimistic Hibiscus. I like very much the colors you have used in the background, and also how well you have brought out the textures of the petals.
The flower is done paying such a good attention to details, and also the use of light is very good.
The format and framing is working well, and with the flower off to the right, it is a fine balance in the composition. It is a lovely and well done digital painting Allan, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thanks Annie, I always appreciate a positive comment on my artwork. Artwork is more personal to me than simply snapping a photo of nature's beauty. Creating it is a bit more challenging. So thanks!

Hi Allan, I've been out taking pictures of swamp Mallow which are very much like Hibiscus. They are 6 ft tall and have petals that are 4-6" long. They also are a lovely pink like your flower. I can imagine the joy you had taking this shot! You captured a lovely Hibiscus shot! Love the intensity of the red center. I also like how you can see the ruffles in the petals. Nice job creating this, I thought it was a photograph! I definitely enjoyed the view! Good Luck in the Contest! :o) Nancy
