Love the beautiful scene you created and the muted colors. Love the serene look of this and the wonderful joy it emits! I think the sailboat in the background was a nice touch! Such a lovely and heartwarming piece. Great use of color and light in all the right places. The use of a tinted pastel paper really helps to convey the beach feeling and gives the boy and dog an almost underpainting intensity while still feeling soft. Nicely done!

This is such a soft piece of art. I like the blending of pastel tones and the interesting setting. It's hard to tell whether to the left side of the boy is sand or waves which throws me off a little bit, perspective wise.
His facial features are ver nice and realistic and the sweet little dog as well!
I have a question about pastels. Do you use a brush with them? It's just so beautifully rendered!

I use a rubber tipped brush for the detailed work. Most of it is finger manipulation

What a beautiful creation. It is a different aspect for a beach scene but captures the sense of colouring coastal sunny days gives. The fine sketched boy and dog are superb. I think that is a sailing ship in the distance but not sure. However it does not distract from this lovely piece of art.
