This eery scene is gripping. It looks like a scene right out of Dracula's Transylvanian forest all foggy and decrepit. Great find! Your composition, clarity and lighting are spot on and you made the perfect choice going with black & white. Very powerful image.

It almost looks like it has fur, lol,,what a tree, yes I like it black and white, now all you need is a cemetery in the background to make spooky for Halloween, this is a great photo

This looks straight out of a horror movie! The atmospheric effect is good. The photo has a good balance of negative space and foreground/background interest. Very well balanced. Good luck!

This really is a gnarly tree, I wonder what it is, it's lovely and very unusual.
The photo's great too, I love that the background is misty, it makes the whole image a little spooky!
Excellent focus, with a good depth of field that shows what's in the background without taking away from the tree itself.

Its good you looked for different angles to take this,i do that and sometimes it works sometimes not,you have shown us that the tree is indeed gnarled in this ans a different one for the contest...Brian

Definitely a great shot to convert to black and white. The gnarly old tree is pretty cool. I love the random trees in a desert landscape. I lived in NM for years and always loved seeing a tree now and then. This one is especially cool!
