Congrats on your second place finish, this is a beautiful yellow rose,my late father-in-law's favorite! It's gorgeous against the black background; you have photographed it so well, I can almost feel the softness of those velvety petals. It's in the perfect stage of blooming, and you have preserved it's beauty in your beautiful photo!

I like its position within the frame and the way it is standing out from the black background, I think that black gives such an elegant look!
You have brought out the details in the rose petals .
This is of course, well focused, this image is sharp and clear, exposure is perfect, the colors and tones appear natural.
Well composed and presented! This would be a lovely addition to a calendar featuring flowers as well as a greeting card face.

Thanks Charlotte, unfortunately things aren't going well he has been in hospital 3 weeks today, came out of critical care for a couple of days and got pneumonia and infection around wound so back to critical care. Back on ward yesterday but there are still complications and surgeon and his partner are conferring whether to operate again. They don't want to as it will be high risk but they may have no choice if the holes in lung don't start repairing. Sorry I rambled there but it is a day by day situation.
