Very nice oil painting. You caught the essence of the gorilla and I think your connection to the very emotional lot that gorillas face is commendable. Very impressive. Ray

I watched that film and if i am correct diane fossey [think thats spelt right] is buried there somewhere, your painting is good and conveys the gorilla in a pose overlooking the rest of them i presume, although the sitting position looks a tad odd in this, but that aside i cannot paint for toffee no i am no judge, thanks for sharing...brian

I visited the gorillas in Rwanda (the most amazing experience of my life!), the descendants of those Dian Fossey worked with - and then I came home and watched the film. It absolutely broke my heart, I sobbed my eyes out!
Your painting is lovely, tho I do find the gorilla's pose a little stiff.
This is obviously the silverback, who has the responsibility of protecting his group, but I found that despite watching everything, he tended to always look very laid back and relaxed - if he was suspicious of anything he'd be immediately on his feet to face the danger. Your gorilla looks worried about something, which for me anyway, feels a little incongruous as he's still seated.
Apart from that, the painting is amazing! You've captured the texture of his coat very well, the details in his body and his surroundings are excellent!
Sorry, re-reading my review it sounds a little harsh, I don't mean it to be as you're an amazing painter and this is a great painting, but I always feel it's important to be truthful in reviews, which is what I'm trying to be.

This painting of the Gorilla is a beautiful form of artistic expression that captures its form in its most raw and natural state. It is a true testament to the skill and creativity of the artist.Well done. Good luck!

Oh I know the one you mean. It is terrible what suffering mankind can inflict on other species. Animal cruelty is just so awful. This is a fabulous painting. Great use of light and shade and wonderful detail, not only in the gorilla but also in the bark of the trees. Surely a strong contender to win the contest. It's 6 stars from me.

A good looking image posted here into the competition, together with a sad story! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of that endangered species. Textures, colours and tones are good. Well painted and good luck!
