I love the dark rich tones you've achieved by using (I presume?) a fairly dry brush.
You've captured the typical chicken stances so well, and the chicks are adorable!

Thank you for your review and high marking. I did wet on wet within the shapes as a base together as a grounding then detailing layers on top. The brush was not so dry but well saturated in colour. I used a rigger for detailing ..

I am not so surprised as they have reptilian type feet ... I am a fan of Real (trad art) too. I actually avoid reviews that aren't and I am not a dinosaur I embrace technology but with art it's not a level playing field. Great re iew thank you Sean

I won't have anything to do with this 'digital art' or 'AI Generated' nonsense.I DRAW with my fingers using pencils and pens.I DON'T construct 'picrures' using fancy software progtams.

This is for sure a colorful painting and you have pictured this Cockerel and his family so well. I especially like that you have kept the background neutral, because this makes them stand out so well.
I also like the boldness of the brush strokes, and it is amazing how well you have brought out fine textures since this is done in water colors. The colors are crisp and clear.
The format and framing is very good, and all the birds and the flowers are well placed on the canvas. I think this is a great looking and well done painting Brenda, and I wish you luck with the contest.
