Now I'm officially creeped out lol. I love spiders but I don't want to meet this one. Is it poisonous?? Your composition shades and angle captures the mood perfectly.

Thank you for your review :)
I don?t know anything about it, just came across it on a walk while on holiday in France - I wasn?t going to get close enough to find out! Lol

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine and classical composition grants us a good look at that spider and it's rocky location. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

I don't know if France has Nursery Web spiders but this looks very much like one. These spiders carry their egg sack with them as they travel about. Nice shot of this one as she crawls among the rocks. Both lighting and focus show the whole scene off well. Interesting shot and great entry for the contest. Good Luck! :o) Helvi

This is an outstanding capture of a rather large spick with a large sack. The surroundings are suggestive of a true habitat. Best wishes in the contest. Like you commentary also.

that is one ugly spider and would not have got so close as you appear to have done, one thing i would say on this though i would have taken completly on the stones just to make it stand out more, but by the same token i might not have taken it at all...brian

Thanks Brian. Yes, I would have, but she was heading towards the lichen and I wasn't going to pick her up to move her!!! Lol

This is a fascinating shot of a spider toting a egg sack around. At first look, I thought it was the ball I badly sliced on the seventh hole at the golf course. :) very nice capture and much luck in the contest. Ray

That my friend is the Wolf Spider. We have these here, yes they can get quite large, I usually kill these, sometimes the little spiders that hatch out of those sacks are quite overwhelming. I am not a spider fan lol,,they just creep me out and even this summer I got bit by two on two different occasions, those bites last for quite a while itching my skin like nuts. this is a good photo of one

Oh that?s really helpful, thanks. I?m now even more pleased that I didn?t get too close! She was pretty huge, those are rocks not pebbles - ha ha my son was with me and he completely freaked out when I showed him!
Thanks for your review too btw.

After looking at this I started to wonder how many babies were riding around in that sack, this is a pretty big spider and it almost blends in with its surroundings. This is well framed and I really like the colors. I was also wondering if this is its nest. I see that this is entered in a contest and I wish you the best in it. JackJr.

Thank you so much Jack. Yes there?s got to be a fair few eggs in that sack, I?m relieved they hadn?t hatched before I found her! I don?t think it is her nest, just a load of lichen and moss I think, but I may be wrong. Someone has reviewed it since you and she said it?s a Wolf Spider and that they give nasty bites - I?m pleased I didn?t get any closer!
