HI LeeAnn, I can only imagine the heartache you have when events like this happen! I can't see killing these magnificent creatures at all! To me a picture is what I'd be aiming for. You can capture every season, not just this year but every year and the shots would never be the same. Because you have such a close relationship with your subjects you've been able to capture some great moments! I'm sad that we will no longer get to see this magnificent deer. Bless you for presenting your shots here so others can enjoy them. YOU do a SUPER job! Bless your heart for doing that! I'm so glad I get to see your images! So Sorry for the loss of this wonderful creature! :o) Nancy

Thank you so very much for your wonderful review and condolences, I miss him very much, don?t think there?s been a day since that I haven?t cried. I will still be posting photos of him; I am so very grateful for the time I had with Vader, I just wish things could have been different and that he could have died peacefully in his sleep from old age; at least he is somewhere safe now, and with Bullseye (12/09/2021-RIP) and all the others I have lost. Thanks so very much for the extra star.

Please don't say you shot this magnificent animal. He is so beautiful. Your composition shades tones and angle captures his expression perfectly. Thank you for sharing!

I would NEVER be able to do that; he was shot and killed by a neighbor on the other side of the road; thank you for your review.

Good close up of this deer and bet you do miss him,i think people who hunt are despicible people and don,t get why they do it and if i had my way would make them hunted and see how they feel, this will be a reminder of him though even though it will be sad to do so...Brian

Oh the story is heart breaking and meaningful. I'm sorry for your loss but glad you got to capture this to keep his memory alive. I could see this in a book with a story going even deeper than your description. Those eyes!

Oh this is such a beautiful photograph to accompany such a sad story. I would be heartbroken and I can only imagine how much you miss him, having built a special bond over the years. It brought tears to my eyes to hear what had happened. Life (and death) can be so cruel at times. A poignant and heart wrenching image.

You have captured the buck's sheer elegance ,with their soft-looking fur and expressive eyes. The sharpness, colours and composition have worked out well. Good effort!

What a sad story. I know deer hunting is a way of controlling the population but it doesn't make it any easier when you are attached to one so beautiful. It's a lovely photo. Thanks for sharing.

Lee Anne,
A beautiful portrait of Vander off his beautiful antlers, ears cocked to catch all sounds around him with trust in his eyes. So sorry to hear he was shot later in that day. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

A fine looking nature image posted here together with interesting but sad notes too! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of Vader. Sounds like a strange name to me? Exposure and sharpness are good. Well taken!

Oh LeeAnn, your notes made me cry, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I don't know how you have the strength to keep befriending these beautiful creatures, knowing that eventually you'll lose them to some trigger happy idiot.
Do you think they know when their time is nearly up? It may be because of your notes, but I feel that his expression looks so sad, as if he knows and is trying to say goodbye to you, his only human ally friend.
Goodbye Vader, you will be missed by your friends on FAR too.

Thank you so much, Charlotte, I know you had asked me before how I can deal with losing these beautiful creatures; I don?t deal with it very well, it is like having a part of my heart ripped away when I lose the very special ones; I don?t think there?s been a day yet that I haven?t ended up crying at some point during the day. Or have been angry at just about everything in general And today is the second anniversary of losing my big buck Bullseye, so now both of them are gone. I will be posting more memories of Vader at some point. I appreciate so very much your condolences and extra star. :)
