Yes it looks like you should have been indoors and not out in this, but you certainly got a good shot of this place and the greyness adds to the sort of bleakness in this...Brian

The sky was patchy blue when I left, but it just got darker and darker, it didn't last long, but I still got drenched!
Thanks for your good review Brian.

I think this is a great capture and title for this photograph.
It almost looks like a painting. Great focus and capture of the rain and the rather depressing scene.

Ext find and so nicely presented Charlotte!
It almost looks like a painting that does not look like coal production facility- how creatively misleading. Beautiful dream like sky framing the old structure and nice colors/details.

Wonderful presentation!!

Thank you so much for your great review Jarina!
I expect if it was still in production it wouldn?t have looked nearly as nice as it does now! I do love abandoned buildings!

Never knew there were coal mines in Derbyshire! Where I was born and raised in industrial Lancashire there were, far bigger than yours. Your fine composition gives us a good look at our industrial history. Well worth getting soaked, hope that camera survived!

Thank you so much for your nicely different review :)

A very interesting and unique photo presented here. I love your angle that captured this scene. Your composition shades tones and lighting is perfectly done and executed. Well done!

This is a fine and apt capture for the contest. I like the atmospherics. The light and shadows, colours and composition have worked out well. Good luck!

Charlotte,
A beautiful & very atmospheric scene up there in the Peak District of this decommissioned Coal mine with it's tall chimney stack under a ceiling of rain clouds with glimpses of blue sky. I can almost hear the miners talking as they change shifts. I wonder what the white building is on the right?
Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.
Susan

Hi Susan, thank you very much for your review. The white thing on the right is a railway cart, that I presume the coal was taken away in (I know nothing about coal mining!), it?s standing on rails that lead to the mine.
