Pat, this a wonderful crisp, stop action shot of this beautiful Bohemian waxwing bird with a berry in beak. The wings are beautifully detailed and the background is perfect so as not to detract from the subject matter. Congratulations on winning the photograph of the month. Definitely well earned.

Yikes, I missed this masterpiece somehow.
What a Nat. Geo. shot. You shutter speed was fast enough to prevent blurring in the wings despite is seems fairly dark outside.
The brown feathers and background work well as complementary colors. The diagonal flight path of the bird adds interest. The bird carrying a berry supports your story line.
Magnificent!
As a side note, we had cedar wax wings also eat mountain ash berries at a place we lived. The only thing is that the berries fermented on the tree and the birds got slightly tipsy after eating them. Funny to watch.

What an incredible shot of this lovely bird, captured with perfect clarity- your camera settings were spot on. The fact that it has a little berry in its mouth just adds to the charm of the photograph and it is really well placed in the frame. A stand out image for sure.

The stop action is just perfect in this photo of a waxwing in flight. And it is even carrying a berry in its beak. The light is falling on the bird in such a lovely way, and it is standing out from the background sky in an excellent way.
The focus is spot on showing truly clear and well defined details in every part of the bird, and the exposure is perfect.
I also like the way you have cropped the photo, and that the bird is given room to fly into. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo Pat, and with an excellent DOF.

What a great capture, Pat! The waxwing is well focused and the wing feathers are so nice and sharp; beautiful exposure and lovely non distracting background. The colors are natural; a beautiful image and the fact that it has that berry in it's beak really makes this spectacular!
