It is always the eye that betrays them. When you scan the field the eye is always seen as out of place.
There are a lot of White Tail Deer roaming our property. I like to find a spot with good cover and hunker down and scan for eyes in the weeds. Once in a great while I see one that's close enough for a portrait, but that's rare.
This is excellent photography you have posted here. The image is sharp and clear. DOF keeps all visual aspects in very sharp focus.
The eye detail is spot on sharp as are the plants and the ear hairs of the Doe,

Hi LeeAnn, Love the way the doe almost totally disappears in the overgrowth. I'm amazed you even spotted her! This definitely shows how close you could be to a deer and not know it was there. I think it makes a very interesting image. Love the lighting and the sharp focus that shows off what we can see of her! Very Nicely Done! :o) Nancy

If it wasn't for those ears and that eye sticking out you would probably not even see this deer. I have some of the same problems when I see them, but they are not that hidden. Those dark coats are perfect for hiding in the woods. Sometimes when I go and look for them the only way that I might see them is when they are on the move.
