This is a place I would like to see. I have only seen photos and documentaries, so I can see that you have done a good job picturing Pompeii. I especially like your POV creating such fine leading lines and also the hazy sky.
The photo is also pin sharp showing truly clear and well defined details together with the fine textures in the old structures, and the exposure is perfect.
The cropping is working so well, and it is a very good balance in the composition. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Thanks Annie for the high rating and wonderful review. We would not have Pompeii as a single destination. We did a Norwegian Cruise Line cruise of the Mediterranean in 2009. Each day was a different land excursion. One day was Pompeii, also Rome, Pisa, Florence, Nice, Malta, Capri and Sorrento. It was a photo op dream come true. Thanks again!

Sounds like a great trip given the opportunity to visit all these places. I have been to Sicily a couple of times, and San Remo close to Monaco and Monte Carlo, but never seen the rest of Italy. I just have to go and see Pompeii one day. You are more than welcome for the review Allan.

A good looking image posted here into the competition! We went there back in the 2000's. Your fine and full composition gives us a an enjoyable view of that early architecture. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

Thanks nikman, were visited Pompeii in 2009 as part of a land excursion from a cruise ship. Worth every penny to visit this site.
