Congrats on your second place finish. I figured this image would do well in the contest. A perfect low key images using light to perfection. I like the composition with the rule of thirds placement of the rose. Very enjoyable to view.

Annie, this is a wonderful presentation of a rose laying silently in a heavy ornamental glass bowl. The beauty of rose is fleeting but is renewed each new rose. this is a beautiful design piece. Ray

Art deco glass is always fun to photograph.
The lighting makes this shot by focusing the viewers eye on the contrasting color of the rose.
Your camera settings are exquisite. Highlights from the glass are where they will give the most to the shot.
What really blew me away is the reflection of the rose in the glass.
This should do very well in the contest, so good luck... Bob
