What a lovely example of a typical Scandinavian sod roof! Apparently from prehistoric times until the end of the 18th C. they were the norm. They have birch bark underneath, which is waterproof and the sods are placed on top to keep the birch bark in place - yep I looked it up! Lol But it's so interesting, I had to share the info! :)
Good photo of it too, was it part of a living museum or was someone still living in it?
Good luck in the contest.

I think this is an excellent photograph. I like the closer view that gives the details of the construction of this log cabin. I think in the area you visited grassroofs are very much a way of life. I believe that they insulate very well and are very natural. We get the lot of them in the. Scottish Highlands is a modern thing.I've seen lots of them in Germany also. They aspect of your take is very appealing. The colours look natural and are quiet vibrant.

Not even going to lie, I thought this was grass that was on the ground until I zoomed in on this picture. How did the grass grow on this roof? This is an mind-blowing and great picture. Thank you for sharing

A very unusual image here, I must say. Focus and clarity are very good, and the whole photograph is so unique and interesting. Good luck in the contest.

Wow! That's very different but interesting. Kind of cool and threw my eyes and brain for a loop being that it's not normal or common to see grass on a roof rather than the ground. Very cool picture. Quality is perfect. Good eye and awesome picture. Thanks for sharing.

I know I would not be the one to cut the grass specially on the roof. Love your composition, shades, tones, colors, and subject matter. Very well done thank you for sharing.

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us a very enjoyable view of strange, old Norwegian house. They probably want the grass for extra insulation in winter? Well done and good luck!
