What a great shot, it looks a bit on the grumpy side, but considering it has a mosquito dimming on it, who can blame it? Beautiful focus and exposure, love that bright yellow eye. A great capture, wishing you the best in the contest!

Well captured Mark, I remember driving to Flinders Ranges a few years ago and there were so many lizards crossing the road and the odd snake. Think it was just as they were coming out of hibernation.
Colors are very natural and the closeup composition allows us to see the texture of the skin and the sharply focused eye nicely.

A very nice capture of this Blue Tongued Skink. The placement of the subject is spot on with the central features leading from upper right corner to left of center frame. The focus is sharp and the colors are well rendered. The eye is "eye catching".
Great entry for the contest and I wish you well in the judging.

Informative facts from per artist's notes. I like the focus and angle showcasing its expressive alert eye and the prominent textures and colors of the skin. You've framed and captured this well. A great entry.

Holy cats what a shot Mark! Catching this lizard in a stare down with a tiny mosquito is absolutely top drawer.

Not only did you catch all the detail of the Skink but a very well-focused and detailed look at the tiny little insect - bravo dude.

The coloration is near monotone but high resolution throughout and completely motion free.

The yellow eye set deep in those heavy lids is as menacing as it can be portrayed, again - bravo.

I think I just reviewed the winner of this contest, good luck... Bob

PS - Sorry, I am all out 6's. Which this piece richly deserves.

I thought this was a snake, until I looked at the name and saw a little leg on his side. I remember working summer camp and I think I picked up one of these. They are very cool and peaceful. Great close up shot and thank you for sharing

Mark this is an amazing picture of an amazing lizard the blue tongued skink. If anything he appears ready to eat a bug. Nice focus and nicely presented. Ray

Ugh! He looks nasty. Great looking capture. A glimpse into the untamed world, where every animal has a story to tell. The sharpness, light and the composition have worked well. Good luck!
