Love this and pleased you achieved your goal.
The white of the blossom is exposed perfectly and the focus is sharp.
The black background complements the subject well and the little bee adds to impact.

I love the fruit blossoms in the spring! You have photographed the bee so well with such good focus, this image is clear and the bee is well exposed, I love the white blackberry blossoms too .
I appreciate that you managed a black background with your settings, as the black really emphasizes the white petals . I also appreciate the detail that is visible on the bee. I think that in this case background is a bit dark to emphasize the bee, it would have been awesome if bee had landed on a lower blossom so that perhaps a nearby white petal would have been behind it. I hope that makes sense . Still this is a well composed image. And I enjoyed viewing !

Hi Bob I see that you have Raspberries, I grow them too, second year and the blossoms are out of control. I recognized your plant right off. Your photo came out great. Ray

work bee work! lol..you know decades ago the railroad companies would place blackberry bushes on each side of the railroad tracks through out most of the south? it was in the 1930's it was placed their to keep from the hobos trying to get on a moving train. really as kid i can always count on a treat when im near the railroad tracks..wink..this is a cool capture. the angle of the shot of this bee work the flower is great. the capture of the light is great. the clarity is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall

Hi MK.. I too, used find a bounty of Blackberries along the railroad tracks. Now, thanks to your insight I now know why - gracious. The short cut to the state beach took me along a stretch of track that had an enormous patch of berries. Trick was getting to them before the other kids. Thank you for the fine review and rating ... This is an amazing visual presented here. I love the background and you created a wonderful and inspiring scene. The petals look so soft and the insect is very detailed. Well done.

Awesome shot Bob, I think you achieved what you set out to do. The contrast is great. Additionally, the clarity and composition are also on point. I love that I can zoom in and see all the tiny hairs on the bee and leaves. The details are fabulous, thanks for sharing.

Hi Bob, a very good close up here of this insect on a flower and when I zoom in I can see a lot of the insects detail. Good focus and clarity and the darkened background has worked well. Great job and thanks for sharing, cheers.

Hi Bob; thank you for sharing this hard to capture photograph. The presentation with black is so suitable and well executed.
Nice work with the macro lens and so nice to view!

Hi Bob. This is a beautiful total presentation. I like the central position and the contrasting black background shows the flower well. The only downside is I feel the shot is somewhat out of focus.

I was hoping you would review this post, Michele. Afterall it was your post that started this thing. Your review is spot on, and you found the unassailable flaw in what I was trying to accomplish.

To get that even black background I had to open up to f/10. Stopping down from there only let more light in from the background - instead of flat black, mottled green begins to be seen.

At f/10 the background was flat black, and the bee is sharp, but the outer petals are soft - that is the tradeoff.

Oh, by the way, the anthers that are out of focus between me and the bee were pushed down where the bee landed. Had it been a little more considerate it would have landed dead center. I gave the bee a stern dressing down for damaging my shoot. it assured me it be more careful in the future.

Seriously though, thanks for a great review... Bob
