As I have mentioned to other photographers, not a fan of flower photos. However, I can appreciate an outstanding image when I see one, even if it is a flower. Of course, I have taken a few shots of flowers as well- mostly to appease my sisters and late mother. As for this image, pure perfection. Excellent lighting, tones, and the ideal DOF for the subject. Especially like the darker background which directs the viewer to remain focused on the flower itself rather that what might otherwise be a distraction. Overall a superb job.

Allan, The amount of Mixed media you added to this shot is just right! Love the satiny look of the petals! I know this flower had to be gorgeous just by itself, but you made it even more special! Love the lighting and focus! Only thing I would have done to this is crop it so the rose really filled the frame. Other than that I think the image is absolutely lovely! Hi Nancy, interestingly enough this flower did not get than much processing. It was so bold in the field it seemed to stand out among all the others. At least I did not think it should be in the mixed media category. Although I could use some more entries in that category.

Certainly a strong flower image and of course the color is also strong,maybe down to a few tweaks sometimes satuaction can be overdone,think though you are just the right side of not doing so in this,but because the yellow is strong it forms a good contrast with the greenery...Brian
