Very well done. I like the after photo work. It gives a wonderful new dimension to the photograph. The darkness above and below the image adds emphasis and brings the focus to the subject.
The poem is nicely done and if full of emotion.
But of fortune in he contest.

It takes a lot of courage to open and create this powerful message hoping that it will somehow reach the audience that really needs a little support. - hopefully helping you as well.
It is sad that it is everyday story for some people these days. It is hard to understand how we as a society deal with this very complex issue.
The presentation with the eye contact of the main subject and the poem are great message for all of us.

Your art always seems to have a message and I love your uniqueness that you portray in your artwork. I am not a fan of the extra black on the top and bottom but then I could look at it as being symbolic of the dark space in our life. Nice work, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Lynn Marie, the black space is intentional to help convey the feeling I was writing about. Thank you so much for appreciating my messages.

This is indeed is a very good presentation of what depression feels like. The darkness and hopelessness is definitely shown here. And the poem ads to the dark and somber feeling.

Thank you for your kindness. Gratitude and forgiveness are not always easy to recognize or appreciate when you're medically and mentally incapable. This is not a chosen behavior, it is a disease 😢
-
Being in the medical field myself I certainly recognize the fact that it is a disease that no one has control over. Meanwhile I am concerned about your post.

Thank you for your concern. I am fine. This actually was created a few years ago but I've kept it in my private collection but I felt it was time to share it and hopefully it would help someone realize they are not alone in their struggles and that art is a powerful and healing outlet.
Thank you for checking ❤️

Mental depression is an invisible battle deserving our empathy and understanding. Every person with mental illness deserves kindness, not judgment. This picture of yours depicts the person's state of mind very well. Good effort!

Thank Sesha, it's something I have tried to mask for most of my life and now I feel free to reveal that part of me without shame.

This has a dark and sombre mood to this and guess that was the intention, yes guess we all have had issues both pysical and mental in our life think some people can deal with them easier than others, imagine how the people of ukraine are having to deal with things over there, don,t know how you would cope in that situaction.good use of imagination you have done with this...Brian

Lisa, I am so sorry for your pain and I am sorry you got sucked into that seeming endless vortex of anguish and anxiety, when your whole life falls apart. I witnessed many different horrendous situations, abused people, accident trauma, drug overdoses. I was a first responder for thirty years with FDNY and I can't tell you all the atrocities I had to deal with. This piece you posted demonstrates your bane and your picture tells the story. I can see and feel your bane closeting your self in the dark. You manifest your feelings and your problems with words, you have talked it out with yourself and that is the first step. It is tuff climbing back as you definitely know. Expressive art and photography helps because you expose the problem and it helps in the healing. The poem was for you but again the picture tells the story. Lisa, this is excellent and very compelling. Ray

Thank you Ray, we all go through things in our lives that often make us feel, we just can't go on or just lost. Art has helped me deal with those times, in a healthy way, although it has not always been my first choice for self medicating. We all deal with things differently, whether its joy, sorrow, fear etc. I am grateful that I have art to turn to. This is a piece that I kept private for a long time but I felt it was time to share it and release the pain that it held with it. Thank you so much for you wonderful words of understanding.

A very powerful visual presented here. Many of us can relate. Composition shades, tones colors, and dark background highlight your subject matter perfectly. Thank you for sharing. This must've been hard for you.

Lisa, this is so deep and thank you for sharing about the struggles of those who are in darkness because of depression and mental illness. The presentation of the image in dark background is consistent with the message that you are trying to tell the world. I love how you have positioned the text of your poem in the frame. The vertical frame fits well and the provision of dark negative space is both pretty artistic and symbolic. High on depth of substance. This is an artwork with a message to tell. Pretty touching and this surely made my spirit grieves for those who are hurting and still wanting a way out. This deserves a seven star recognition and needs to be in the contest.

Thank you so much for this in depth review. I am honored by your words. I would like to submit this to a contest at some point but I have not yet found the right one for photography. Thanks again!
