Hi Ray, my first impression of this was I didn't like the background, but then it bean to grow on me. I began to picture colorful flowers there. Love the way you infused peonies in the image and added a touch of pink to the white blooms. I like the way you arranged them too.

Nancy I am glad you enjoyed this. I am glad you talked about the background. Two choices for the background as I see it, either it is very interesting creating pathways to lead you around the painting or you blur the background. I tried to create the illusion of depth with visual pathways. For you to say it grew on you helps me a whole lot because you recognize what I did. And I thank you so much. I think this is a fine entry for a contest like this, and I especially like how well the white peonies are standing out from the textured background.
The flowers are actually done paying quite a good attention to details, and I like that they are outlined with ink. It is also nice the way you have added shadings in pink, purple and green hues.
The tight framing works well, and I like the way the flowers are filling this frame. It is a lovely and well done painting Ray, and I wish you luck with the contest.
(Sorry I have not done many reviews lately, but my daughter has been very sick, and has been in hospital for 5 weeks.)

Very nice artwork and I am enjoying the view in your flowerbed. Peonies are one of my favorites because of the multitude of colors and varieties. I like how you have included a different angle of view and maturity on each flower head. All the background colors bring out the feeling of being in a colorful garden :)

Very good initial impression with this piece. I like the composition with the placement of the peonies
The white flowers stand out nicely against the colored back ground. It is a great abstract. I pretent to do art like this but it is not the same for sure!!
