Bob,
A beautiful picture of the Painted Lady Butterfly on the Russian Sage on which a Bumblebee possibly a Bombus impatiens just at the level of the upper wing tip if the Painted Lady Butterfly, both standing out in sharp focus from the blurred grey background. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Well focused butterfly , the image is clear and your exposure is perfect. Colors and tones appear natural.

"Drawn to the sage" is an understatement Pat. In just one plant I lost count of Bombus at 18. I did identify 9 different species of insects, all of whom are beneficial pollinators - A camera hack's dream!

I like this natural scene whereas you have captured a full array of nature; not only the painted lady, the flower and then as an added bonus you have the bee in the background. This sets the scene for a natural, as mother earth, intended shot.
The painted lady is so sharp and detailed; those viewing should enjoy taking in the intricacies of those wings. You have even captured that texture of the powder (rather tiny scales).
