A very dramatic photograph indeed. The picture explodes with color, from the sunset to the fireworks.The lack of the shoreline and trees I find not to be a problem as the focus seems to be on the fireworks, color of the sunset and the reflection in the water. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

I love the festive scene of the fireworks against the background of a dramatic sky. Prominent and well defined formations as well as the fireworks' sparks. You've also showcased the diverse color reflections in this smooth water of the Lake of the Woods. The silhouettes of the layers of the trees added depth to this July 4th evening scene. Excellent angle, lighting, and focus. Informative artist's notes. Thanks for sharing your memorable night at this lake. I actually had been here when I was still a Minnesotan. A competitive entry. Your technique produced a very dynamic scene with loads of interesting compositional elements, i.e., the fireworks, the clouds (smoke in the air), the highlights on the water. Framed to collect further interest with the boats on the water. The scene is well executed with nice focus and detail to depict the various textures (especially the sky). Amazing color. Love it!!
