Hey Mark this is an outstanding piece of freeze action photography - Yowzah, well done.

Sharp focus, all aspects of this marvelous bird are tight and in sight.

All of the bird's facial features are well seen. I like the catch light in its eye.

Colors are limited but natural in appearance.

Getting a shot like this always reminds me of why I carry this stuff around all the time... Bob

Hi Mark, Thanks for all the interesting info about the Kite. You taught me something I didn't know. You captured a great image of him in flight. I like the focus and even though the right side of the image is a little dark it's still a great image. Thanks for sharing! :o) Nancy

Mark,
A very beautiful stop action picture of the Black Kite flying overhead in the clear blue sky. That contrasts with it dark & grey plumage. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Thanks Susan for the great review and 6 stars. The Black Kite is quite widespread being found from Austalia to New Guinea, Africa and Michele informs me that they are in Florida. Quite a successful species. Have fun in Portugal :-)

A lovely shot of this black Kite in flight beautifully shown against a blue sky. Lovely focus of his wing feathers and a well captured eye. We have Kites here in Florida also.

Fascinating notes Mark - Thank you. Who knew! Birds can be pyromaniacs (a scarry thought). At first glance I thought this was a type of hawk. You captured the raptor in flight with nice clarity and detail in the wings. Darn, you even got that glimpse of light in his/her eye. Your natural colors allow the viewer to enjoy and appreciate this Black Kite. Nicely done. KB

Thanks for your review Kathy, much appreciated. I have a feeling The Black Kites actually know what they are doing and they work with nature to control grass levels while benefiting at the same time. Very interesting birds :-)

This is a beautiful shot of the raptor in flight. You timed and framed it well, and the light, shadows, colours, and composition worked well. Good effort!

Think Mark you caught a good moment capturing this kite in flight, think though it needed a bit faster shutterspeed in this as its not quite pin sharp[it could be down to upload though] good use of timing though in getting the wingspan ...Brian

Thanks for your review, in regards to shutterspeed my camera was set 1/4000th which is fastest my camera will do so I am blaming low res upload lol :-)

Interesting facts about this Black Kite raptor that possess the capacity to start a grassfire with the use of a burning stick. I enjoy the negative space that you have provided for this raptor to fly. You've freeze the flying motion well. Great angle and lighting showing the eye and the patterns of the wings. Points of improvement is just to increase focus and sharpness to this subject. Overall, this is already a great scene but can still be improved.
