Strong initial impact: the viewer is immediately drawn in to have a good look at this infant shoe from 1879. The shoe certainly looks well worn, I can picture it on a baby's foot !
I appreciate the way the shoe is standing out from the black background . Well photographed with spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear and your exposure is perfect. ( I love the light box for shots such as this) very clever to hang the shoe! I like the text in white .
You have brought out such well defined detail over every visible part of this little shoe.
This is an excellent entry for this contest, the subject matter is interesting . Well composed , professionally presented! Very best wishes to you in this contest!

You are welcome, I sent you an email, I’m not sure if you got it, I had issues with my mail server this morning and it may have sent too soon.

Thank you for the review and the response to my email. Yes, it cut off mid-sentence, but that's okay - no worries. Enjoy those puppies! Like kids, they grow way to fast.. :o)

First, I'd like to say I'm glad you're back. Your work is amazing. Love your composition and limited colours that highlight your old boot in such a dramatic way. Extremely well done. Thank you for sharing.

I love your notes Kathy and although there are things that i feel strongly could be changed on here,i to think it has a certain charm that that means you have chances to still learn on here and pick things up.that aside i love peolpe who think outside the box as in this case,so different so deserves a six...brian

This is such a great entry into the contest. The way it presented is exquisite. The baby's leather shoe shown against the black background shows it in the best detail. Good luck in the contest.

Quite an interesting image posted here Gets me thinking how people learned how to things way back when. I sew this as a Brit who regrets our separation. Nicely done!

I really liked your author notes. Indeed, getting out of ones comfort zone is good. We can get in a rut very easily if we don't prod yourself once in awhile.

I am impressed by the sharpness of the image and the wonderful dark background.

The shoe seems to be of very high quality and lasted this long.

Do you suppose our modern plastic flip flops will last 145 years and show up in a museum?!??

Allan - Thank you for taking the time to give this one a look. It was so much fun to create. I'm "SO" happy, that others are liking the final result of my attempts (it's encouraging and inspires me to keep learning). Thank You for both the time to review, supported with a 6-star rating.

This was a great idea I loved your notes. The take is excellent in its presentation the baby boot looks as if its floating. I like your choice of background it enhances the delicate creases of the worn leather. What a find to have this in your family.

Thank you, Brenda. I almost went with a deep (almost black) green background. It was fun to learn and play around with it. I'm so happy others are liking the final result.
