I have seen many and taken many shots of this iconic lighthouse, and I gotta say with all sincerity this is one of the best.
This is actually a tough shot what with the heavy overcast that almost swallows the contrast of the lighthouse.
Your technical and artistic acumen has given us a chance to see Maine as it is meant to be seen. Also I like that you kept the Portland Harbor light in the shot - it lends a sense of scale of the harbor.
I might suggest that the other entrants consider withdrawing their entry because I think I am looking at the winner... Bob

I love the scene per se. The rock formations that you have focused, the calm ocean and the Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine made an amazing elements of your composition. I also love the authenticity of the natural colors. All angles considered, this photo is technically strong and the scenery evokes a serene and refreshing feeling to me as a viewer. A wonderful, rugged photograph of the coast in Maine. The rocks and gray sea show how isolating this can be; but peaceful also, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life.

A fitting image for the contest. I can literally feel the cool mist upon viewing this image. The image is loaded with interest and tells a story while offering the viewer multiple textile rewards. Nicely done!
