This is a wonderful clear shot of this bird. The focus and clarity show his plumage details well along with the striking markings. He does look intelligent, but do they have predators as they are ground feeders, rather like the mourning doves here in Florida?

Hi Bob, this image "Return of the N. Flicker" is a very sharply focused shot showing off a lot of detail in its foraging mode. I can see its pattern very clearly. Nice clear eye, colours appear natural and you have framed him well. Great shot and thanks for sharing :-)

Bob, thank you for the informative artist's notes. A pretty handsome bird. I love its red accent, the striped wings and big black dots in the chest. Excellent lighting, focus, and angle. You've really showcased the details with clarity. A refreshing scene.

The northern flicker male is a pretty bird indeed, here is is in such an alert and ready pose.
You have photographed him well with good focus, this image is clear to view, ell managed exposure to produce colors abd tones that appear natural.
He stands out beautifully from the green grassy surroundings,
Well defined details and color patterns.
Well presented!

Hi Pat.. There are 2 types of N. Flicker, this one is the Yellow Stripe. His wings are folded low so you can't see the stripe. The other is seen in the north central US and is the Blue Stripe N. Flicker. They are about the same size as a pigeon.

Thank you for the fine review and rating. I'm glad you liked the post ... Bob

Hi Bob - I've never seen one of these, we have the annoying Downy Woodpecker that strips my Hummingbird feeders of all their flowers. Oh well - back to the review!

This is certainly a sharp, well framed image of this Norther Flicker - and yes, he is looking pretty darn confident in the shot. Your clear presentation allows me to see the soft texture in the dotted breast, as well as the other patterns in the folded wings and face. I enjoy the natural colors that have not been manipulated with boosting vibrance or saturation. The bird is framed nicely in the frame, and you have left him enough room to move.

Hi Kathy.. Mother nature has gone to great lengths to color the world just right and I don't mess with success. The only time I use the color sliders is to convert to B&W. All manual settings and trust the camera to capture accurate color.

Thank you for the fine review and rating. I'm glad you liked the post ... Bob

I've never seen a bird like this before. It is very beautiful. Composition shades, tones, colours and background highlight your subject and a very pleasing way. Very well done. Thank you for sharing.
