Nice!! Wow!! Phenomenal comes to mind when I gaze at this image. The presentation of the butterfly is the WOW!! What a cool, unusual and dynamic perspective. I will have to second guess my desire to rid the property of thistle (that's the flower the bee is enjoying - I believe). I absolutely love the natural bokeh. I was undecided on the lines of web between the blooms / stems but then realized how beautifully natural and perplexing nature is as well as how it's naturally creating a leading line to allow a path for the viewers to enjoy the image. Truely awesome - Thank you for sharing.

Sincere thanks, very much appreciated! On a side note, this shot, and the other once from the same location with the swallowtail in flight, did not even look so great in the camera so I almost deleted them while in the field. Was not until I got home and ran through them on my computer that I discovered what I had captured.

Love this beautiful head on shot of the swallowtail. Looks like it's having its meal on a thistle. Both butterfly and flower have really nice focus and lighting. Don't think you need so much room on the top but I really enjoyed the image! Good Luck in the Contest! :o) Nancy

Oh duh, thistle, not milkweed. I had this in with a bunch of other butterfly shots, most all of them were on Milkweed. That's what happens when I work on stuff when I am half asleep! Also, I agree, could use a bit less room at the top. This particular shape/size was formatted to fit my 13x19 printer. Probably should have cropped it a bit for this site. Many thanks, always appreciate your input!

Totally understand about the milkweed! LOL When you have a lot of shots like that your mind can take a little side trip and you wonder what you were thinking! I enjoyed the shot no matter what flower the butterfly was on! :o)
