These are darling depictions of this curious animal. Your color choices are clever and highlight the shine on their coat.
Do you remember a children's television show called, The Leaping Lemur? Smile

Thank you for your review! I do not remember that show but will have to look it up because someone else was telling me about it.

Great experiment in colour here and I like Lemurs too. Love how you did the eyes. The texture of the fur is great. I would like to see those beautiful tales if you ever decide to do another one. Well done and thanks for sharing :-)

Thank you very much for your review. Yes, I agree, I absolutely want to do one of the entire body especially of my son's ringtail lemurs.

Phyllis, beautiful work on these limas. Your attention to detail is spot on. I have a story that may help you. When I was twelve years old my parents sent me for oil painting lessons. The woman who taught me was in her sixties and very articulate with her art. I was painting a ceramic teapot and I was proud of my work great shading and highlights. I showed it to her and asked her, "How do you like it?" and she said, "I don't, there is no indication of a table and no shadows, Just a teapot floating around and not grounded. It's just like a teapot balloon floating around your canvas, all it needs is a string." I was devastated. I packed up my paint box and canvas and I started to leave and she said,"Come back when you are ready to learn." I thought over what she just said and I took off my coat and went back to my place, and told her I am ready to learn. She then said, "You learn from criticism." She was right, I would have never known that until she brought it to my attention. You have done a fine job on the body of the center lemur, but didn't put bodies on the other two leaving them to be trophies on the wall or balloons floating around. Just remember to ground your figures and things in your painting. If you have a bowl of fruit on a table, indicate the table it is sitting upon. Think about what I said and i hope it helps you in your journey. All the best to you. Ray

Phyllis, you have beautifully painted this these Lemurs. I love their expressive eyes and the overall facial features. The use of red wine background really highlights them, too. Excellent choice of contrasting colors. Prominent textures of the fur and overall, well defined drawing and painting of their faces. High on drawing and painting skills, conceptualization, and storytelling ability. I would consider next time to paint with an increase in breathable space like at the top portion for the two lemurs to move and breath. This piece is a joy to watch and is almost like a masterpiece.

Thankyou so very much for your positive and very helpful review. I really do not know much about art except that it brings me so much joy. I have been painting and trying to teach myself for about 2 years. Your review was very helpful and again thankyou!

WOW! Phyllis, you have inspired me. Just 2 years? You seemed like seasoned painter already. And did you balance your Nursing job and painting? Just a thought. You are amazing. Keep shining! Great potential. I lived near Crystal Bridges Museum about 20 minutes and one painting of White Flower by Jimson Weed was purchased for 44 million or almost 45 million. I think your Lemur is even harder to paint. Have a rested evening. -Soulfeeder-

This is an interesting image if these lemurs. Beautiful animals, with lovely eyes and sharp outlines. The cranberry background is interesting, and does help promote them to the forefront of the picture.
